A 30 year-old Iranian man used a Kalashnikov assault rifle to kill 12 members of his family in a village in southern Iran, state media reported.
Head of the justice department of the province of Kerman, Ebrahim Hamidi, said that the gunman opened fire on his father, brother, sister-in-law and other relatives on February 17 because of a “family dispute.”
Local media reported that several children and women were among the victims.
The incident occurred in the village of Mazraeh Imam, near the city of Faryab.
The gunman, who was not identified, was later shot and killed by police in a nearby village.
