The president of Iran's Shahid Beheshti University, Mahmoud Aghamiri, announced that scholarships would be offered to American and European students expelled for supporting Palestine.
The offer comes amid ongoing protests by Iranian students facing repression and imprisonment at home for their own activism.
Aghamiri said, "We accept students expelled from Western universities for protesting Zionist actions."
The scholarships reportedly cover tuition, housing, and support for Palestinian students.
Iranian state media has extensively covered pro-Palestine protests at American universities, seemingly to downplay the government's crackdown on Iranian student activism.
Aghamiri's announcement coincides with the arrest of Motahareh Goonei, a Tehran University student activist, and the summoning of Kashayar Sefidi for protesting rapper Tomaj Salehi's death sentence.
These incidents follow the imprisonment of Allameh University students Zia Nabavi and Hasti Amiri for protesting student poisonings last year.
