Iranian rapper Vafa Ahmadpour, better known by his stage name Vafadar, was sentenced to one year in prison by a Revolutionary Court on April 14.
Ahmadpour himself announced the verdict on social media, stating he was convicted of "spreading propaganda against the Islamic Republic."
His case now awaits the execution of the sentence.
Before the sentencing, Ahmadpour faced a wider range of charges.
He was charged at Evin prosecutor's office with "propaganda against the Islamic Republic," "disseminating false information," and "disturbing public opinion."
Ahmadpour's troubles began with his arrest on February 4, 2024.
Security forces detained him for over 15 days before he was released on bail from Evin prison.
