Laleh Sa'ati, a Christian convert, was sentenced to two years in prison by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.

The verdict, delivered on March 24 by presiding judge Iman Afshari, also restricts her movement by imposing a travel ban, according to a report by the HRANA human rights website.

Sa'ati's alleged crime is "actions against national security."

Sources close to Sa'ati's family report that she is struggling with severe depression during her incarceration.

Security forces arrested Sa'ati on February 13, 2024.

Initially held in Evin Prison's Women's Ward, she was later transferred multiple times to Ward 209, a section known for housing detainees interrogated by the Ministry of Intelligence.

According to HRANA, reports suggest Sa'ati lived in Malaysia before returning to Iran.
