Farahnaz Nik-Khoo, a 50-year-old retired telecommunications worker, was sentenced to ten years in prison by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court.

The charges against her are unspecified but fall under the category of "acting against national security through espionage," according to the HRANA human rights organization.

Nik-Khoo was arrested by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) intelligence in December 2022 at Tehran airport as she attempted to leave the country.

After initial detention in Evin Prison, she was transferred to the women's ward in April 2023.

Details surrounding her alleged espionage activities remain unclear.
