In this film, a citizen video journalist shows the Islamic Republic’s police force (NAJA) rooting out dangerous, subversive groups that try to spread happiness on the streets of Tehran. When seven young Iranians posted their version of Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” video on YouTube in May 2014, Naja forces knew they had to take action against this potential contagion, and fast. Otherwise, similar demonstrations of joy might start to emerge in other parts of the country.
