In Tehran, homelessness continues to be a major problem. Now Mehdi Chamran, who runs the city council, and other senior council officials, have pledged to wok with municipal authorities and other relevant government departments to combat the problem, ensuring homeless people — including drug addicts — are given adequate shelter. As part of this, the officials visited the Khavaran Shelter in the capital on October 10, witnessing firsthand the facilities currently available to the homeless community.
