The ninetheen session of Iran's Assembly of Experts got underway on March 8, just 10 days after elections for the influential government body took place. The Assembly notionally oversees the work of the supreme leader and will be responsible for appointing Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's successor. Prominent Assembly members include President Rouhani and former president and influential politician Ali-Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.
