Iranian security forces arrested Azeri journalist and media activist Sina Bandalizadeh in the northwestern city of Ardabil on January 15, IranWire has learned. 

Two days later, the reasons for his arrest, the institution responsible for it, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

Bandalizadeh has actively covered social and environmental issues in Iran’s Azerbaijan region, presenting his findings in video reports shared on his Instagram page. 

He previously worked with the Fars news agency.
