Iran’s Kurdistan Remains under Tight Security

Two days after the one-year anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death in custody, cities across Kurdistan across Kurdistan, remain under tight security. 

In Saqqez, Amini’s birthplace, the security forces had a brief respite in the morning of September 18 before redeploying in various squares of the city. 

Armed forces continued to stop people from entering Aichi cemetery, where Amini is buried. 

Despite the widespread use of VPNs, few users were able to circumvent internet censorship.
