An Iranian border guard was killed and two others were wounded in a clash with unidentified armed individuals in the southeastern province of Sitan and Balushistan.
Saeed Jalili, the governor of the Saravan district said that the clash took place on November 13 near the city of Saravan, close to the border with Pakistan.
Jalili said the two injured guards were in stable condition and that the situation in the area returned to calm.
Haalvsh, a news agency that covers rights violations in Baluchistan, released a video showing an armored military vehicle on a highway near Saravan.
It also reported that helicopters continuously patrolled the skies over the city and the surrounding areas.
Sistan and Baluchistan, one of Iran's poorest provinces, is a volatile area near Iran's borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan where drug smugglers and militant groups operate.
