Mohammad Boroghani, a young imprisoned protester, has been granted ten days' leave from Ghezalhesar prison, where he is serving a five-year sentence.
Boroghani, arrested in Pakdasht during the 2022 protests, faced initial sentencing of death for "waging war against God" by Branch 15 of the Tehran Revolution Court.
However, following an appeal, this verdict was revised to five years in prison and ten years of exile.
The revised sentence, issued amid procedural concerns, garnered media attention after the case was retried and referred back to the same branch.
Like other protesters detained during the nationwide demonstrations, Boroghani lacked legal representation during his trial.
Information obtained by IranWire suggests that his court-appointed lawyer acted more as an interrogator than a defense advocate during the proceedings.
