Unknown gunmen killed two members of the paramilitary Basij force in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchistan province on February 11, according to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

In a statement carried by the official IRNA news agency, the IRGC Quds Base identified those killed as Mohammad Anwar Gomshadzehi and Abdul Hossein Baluch, and stated they had been killed at a checkpoint on the Zahedan-Bam railway due to "gunfire from attackers."

Last week, the Quds Base announced the death of Colonel Seyed Morteza Hosseini in Sistan and Baluchistan.

The official statement claimed Hosseini had died during a training mission, but the independent Haalvsh news agency reported that he was killed while laying mines in the Saravan area bordering Pakistan.

The agency said three other people were injured in the incident.
