Amir Velayati, a protester who sustained eye injuries during the 2022 nationwide protests in Iran, has been summoned to court to face the serious charge of "rebellion."
According to the prosecutor's report, branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court issued summoned for Velayati to appear on June 30 of this year.
The summons accused him of "activities and effective efforts to advance the goals of groups that have launched an armed uprising against the Islamic government" and "disruption of public order."
Velayati is among hundreds of Iranians who sustained severe eye injuries after being hit by pellets, tear gas canisters, paintball bullets or other projectiles used by security forces amid a bloody crackdown on the largely peaceful demonstrations.
