At least one person died in an explosion and fire at a furnace in an oil refinery in southern Bandar Abbas.
Hossein Zafari, the spokesman for Iran's Crisis Management Organization, said that at approximately 11:00 am on March 7, a fire broke out in the furnace of phase 3 of the Aftab Oil Refining Company.
"The fire was swiftly extinguished due to the timely response of firefighters," he said.
Zafari mentioned that three individuals were injured and transported to a hospital in Bandar Abbas, while one died at the scene.
He added that investigations into the cause of the accident are underway.
According to the official IRNA news agency, the fire broke out during maintenance and troubleshooting activities on one of the furnaces.
The ISNA news agency, citing eyewitnesses at the refinery, earlier reported "several dead and injured."
The Aftab Oil Refining Company is described as "the largest private refinery in the country" and produces petroleum derivatives.
