Jaish ul-Adl Militants Clash with Iranian Police, Six Officers Killed

At least six Iranian police officers have been killed in a clash with members of the Jaish ul-Adl militant group in southeastern Sistan and Baluchistan.

The officers were killed when two police vehicles were ambushed.

Tasnim news agency, affiliated with Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported that several other officers were injured alongside the six fatalities.

Jaish ul-Adl claimed responsibility for the attack in the Sib and Suran district.

Sib and Suran border Khash to the north, Saravan to the east, and the Pakistan border to the southeast.

Baluch activist Telegram channel, citing a source, said Jaish ul-Adl forces used silencers during the clash, explaining the lack of reported gunfire.

Jaish ul-Adl released a statement claiming responsibility for the attack, stating they targeted "an intelligence operation unit along with special forces."

Jaish ul-Adl is recognized as a terrorist group by both Iranian authorities and several Western governments, including the United States.

Armed conflicts and attacks on military and police installations have resulted in dozens of fatalities over the past few weeks.

On April 4, the militants launched two separate attacks on military installations, killing at least 10 Iranian security officers and wounding dozens.

The attacks follow tensions that flared in January when Iran launched missile strikes against Jaish ul-Adl bases in Pakistan.

It prompted retaliatory military action by Pakistan, targeting suspected separatists in Iran.
