Iran has appointed a new intelligence chief for its Revolutionary Guard following the death of his predecessor in an Israeli strike, Iranian media reported.
Majid Khademi will replace Mohammad Kazemi as head of the Revolutionary Guard’s intelligence organization, according to state media.
Kazemi was killed in an Israeli military attack on Iran earlier this week.
The appointment is a rapid succession within Iran’s elite military force as the country continues to face Israeli strikes.
Khademi previously served as Kazemi’s deputy, having been appointed by Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the summer of 2025 to lead the Guard’s intelligence protection division.
He is considered part of the faction aligned with Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, the former deputy commander of the IRGC
