11 citizens from an Iranian village were arrested on Sunday by Intelligence Ministry agents following a protest over employment discrimination and transferred to Behbahan Prison in Khuzestan Province.
HRANA identified those arrested as Ali Moradi, Abolfazl Jamali, Asad Fathi, Gholam Emami, Salman Ja’fari, Mohammad Ahmadi, Mohammadreza Bahrami, Mehdi Fathi, Morteza Atoon, Hamzeh Atoon, and Mohammad Mohammadpour.
The arrests followed a September 28 protest in front of the Maroun Dam and Power Plant Operating Company building in Bahmei district.
Reports say security forces used violence during some arrests.
Residents had also gathered at the same location on Saturday. The protesters, mostly young locals, are demanding the right to participate in the company’s employment tests.
The job seekers previously said they were barred from employment exams because of the company’s location in Khuzestan Province.
They said repeated appeals to local and provincial authorities have gone unanswered.
