U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Monday, April 6, that tomorrow, Tuesday, is the final deadline for the Islamic Republic to reach an agreement.
Trump stated: “Tuesday is the deadline. If they do what they have to do, the war can end very quickly.” Referring to the proposal submitted by the Islamic Republic, he added that while the offer was “substantial,” it remains “not enough.”
Regarding the internal situation in Iran, Trump commented: “The Iranian people get upset when they don’t hear the sound of explosions. They want to be free.” According to him, citizens are not taking to the streets due to the fear of repression.
The U.S. President also suggested that protesters could change the situation if they had access to weapons. He claimed that the group tasked with providing these weapons to the people instead kept them for themselves.
In another part of his speech, Trump emphasized a rescue operation for the crew of a fighter jet in Iran, describing it as an “unprecedented” action. He stated that two pilots were rescued during the mission.
Regarding negotiations with the Islamic Republic, he noted that the individuals currently involved in talks seem “more reasonable” than before. Trump alluded to recent developments by using the term “regime change,” stating that the current group is “less radical” and “smarter” than their predecessors.
The U.S. President reiterated that Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons, stating: “You cannot give a nuclear weapon to a madman.”
He concluded by saying, “We have many options. We can leave right now, or we can finish the job.”
