NetBlocks, an independent organization that monitors internet network stability, wrote in its latest report on access for Iranian users: “International internet connectivity has been cut off for over 1,320 hours. This is the longest national-level blackout ever recorded, and it is still ongoing.”
In this regard, Seyed Javad Hosseinikia, a Member of Parliament, told Avash concerning the internet shutdown: “Traitors are misusing the internet platform.” This MP also emphasized: “The timing for reconnecting the internet is in the hands of our security friends. The internet will be reconnected after the war.”
Hosseinikia further claimed: “The issue of ‘class-based internet’ [tiered internet], which is raised by some opponents, is not true.” This comes as various social groups, including lawyers, doctors, university professors, and others, have gradually gained the ability to apply for “Pro Internet.” “Pro Internet” is a level of access made available to specific classes for international internet connectivity at a price up to five times higher than standard rates.
