The health condition of Jaber Sakhravi, an Iranian Arab political prisoner, has worsened in absence of proper medical care at Shiban Prison in Iran's Ahvaz.
Despite his urgent need for medical treatment, prison authorities have prevented his transfer for necessary care, sources told IranWire.
Sakhravi, who suffers from multiple sclerosis (MS), requires continuous physiotherapy sessions.
However, prison authorities have denied him access to the required treatment.
Sakhravi was hospitalized in June with symptoms of a stroke, but despite his critical condition, he was returned to Shiban Prison.
The latest incident takes place just one year before his ten-year sentence ends.
Sakhravi is accused of being a member of Harakat al-Nidal, or the Arab Struggle Movement for the Liberation of Ahvaz. He is serving a sentence of 12 years and five months.
Sakhravi, a computer engineer from Ahvaz's Alavi district, was arrested in Ahvaz on March 24, 2014.
He was transferred to the Ahvaz Intelligence Department detention center, one of Iran's most notorious security facilities.
A source in Karun prison told IranWire that despite having multiple sclerosis (MS), he was severely tortured in the Ahvaz Intelligence Detention Center.
"During his detention at the Ahvaz Intelligence Department, Jaber's MS worsened. When he was sent to Karun Prison, he was in a terrible condition," the source said.
