Two Christian convert brothers received four-year prison sentences from the Revolutionary Court in central Isfahan.
Mansour and Mahmoud Mardani were each sentenced to four years in prison, financial fines, and deprived of social rights for five years on charges of “propaganda against the Islamic Republic through promoting Christianity.”
The court also banned the brothers from Isfahan province and Fooladshahr city and sentenced them to two years of exile in the Ardal district.
The brothers were arrested on December 22, 2021, during a Christmas celebration at a house church in Fooladshahr and later released on bail.
Though Christianity is recognized as a minority religion in Iran, security agencies treat Muslim conversion to Christianity as highly sensitive.
