Attacks on Nine Seminaries and Leading Clerics’ Offices

At least nine seminaries and Friday Imam offices have been burned down during protests against rising gas prices.

According to local reports, the Imam Mahdi Theological Seminary in the Zargan neighborhood in Ahvaz, the capital of Khuzestan province, was set on fire by protesters during the evening of Friday, November 15. Tthe office of the Friday prayers leader for Bandar-e Imam, also in Khuzestan, was targeted as well.

Groups also attacked the Kowsar Women's Seminary School in Fardis Karaj, as well as the office of the Friday imam in Shiraz. 

On Saturday, November 16, a video was posted on social media showing the torching of the Zainabieh seminary in Isfahan.

The Salehieh Seminary School of Maktab al-Sadeq in Kazerun and the Khatam al-Anbia Seminary in Shiraz were also damaged during protests, and there were attacks on the office of the Supreme Leader's representative in Yazd.

Fars News Agency reported that attacks were also directed at the offices of leading clerics in Tehran, targeting the offices of the Friday prayers imams in the Mosalla and Quds neighborhoods.

The widespread protests against the government’s sudden decision to triple gas prices began on Friday and continued over the following three days.
