A father has reportedly murdered his young daughter amid a rising trend of "honor killings" in Iran.

Rokna news agency reported on April 7 the murder of a 21-year-old girl by her father in one of the villages of southern Abadan.

According to Rokna's report, the murder was reported to the police of this city.

In the police investigation, it has been determined that the 75-year-old father of the girl strangled and killed her under the pretext of "honor."

No details are available about the exact reason behind the murder.

After the accused confessed, he was arrested and handed over to the Abadan Intelligence Police for further investigation and completion of the case. The body of the young girl was also transferred to the forensics.

Rukna reports that the murdered girl's family has expressed "consent" to the killer and said that they have no complaints against the perpetrator of this crime, who was the girl's father.
