Soma Pourmohammadi, a Kurdish language lecturer, was sentenced to a total of 11 years in prison.

The Hengaw Organization for Human Rights reported that Branch One of the Revolutionary Court convicted Pourmohammadi of "forming groups against national security," sentencing her to ten years in Kermanshah Central Prison.

A separate one-year suspended sentence was imposed on her by Branch 106 of the Criminal Court for "disrupting national security."

Pourmohammadi reportedly said on Instagram that the judge revealed a predetermined verdict during the April 17 trial.

She was first detained in January 2022 while inquiring about her husband's case.

She was released on bail after 27 days.

She is a board member of the Nojin cultural organization in Sanandaj.
