Tehran residents were alarmed to hear a series of shots being fired in the southern and central parts of the city on Monday, January 16. At about 5pm, people reported suspected rounds of gunfire being shot, with some reporting that the gunfire seemed to be coming from the sky. Some sources said the shots might have come from an air defense base located in the vicinity of Enghelab Square. Other unverified reports said that a drone had been targeted and shot down nearby.
