The Iranian electorate, including government officials and candidates, headed to the polls as soon as they opened on the morning of Friday, May 19. International media reported that the incumbent, President Hassan Rouhani, cast his vote an hour after the polling booths opened.
A citizen journalist sent these photos to IranWire, which show people In Tehran lining up outside polling stations, while reporters covered the turnout. The polls close at 9pm.
