The Last Day

In his project “The Last Day,” photographer Behnam Sadighi turns his attention to Iranians preparing to leave their home country to work or study, uncertain when they will return. In many ways, leaving has become part of Iranian modern culture, and Sadighi’s photographs capture the wary ambivalence so many people feel as they pack up a few select possessions and prepare to set off, not knowing when they will next see their families and friends, or what their time abroad will bring.
