The Shocking Cost of Food

These photographs, taken in Tehran by Mona Hoobehfekr, show Iranians’ shock at the recent hike in food prices, including for meat, fruit and nuts. Despite government promises to make food more affordable, prices continue to rise. The exorbitant costs have been particularly difficult to handle during the Norooz holidays, when people look forward to cooking for and eating with family and friends.
