The Palms of Khuzestan

Khuzestan palm groves have been suffering from dehydration for more than a decade. This year, despite the heavy rains, floods and dams nearly overflowing, conditions for the groves remained the same. Although authorities ordered that dams could be used to water the palms, most of this water was illegally diverted for unauthorized harvests in the Karun Basin area upstream.
