A 15-hectare plot of land in the middle of the Lavandevil Wildlife Refuge, a wildlife habitat conservation area in Gilan Province, has been handed over to local municipalities as a place in which to dump huge amounts of garbage on a daily basis. Mountains of household waste are now piling up in the heart of nature, in an area meant to be protected so that different animal species can thrive.
