Lake Urmia is the largest saltwater lake in the Middle East, and the sixth largest in the world. It has been facing a critical threat from pollution and successive droughts for some time now, and its area is decreasing year on year. Real environmental action and conservation measures are urgently needed to ensure this beautiful lake, a landmark in the region, is protected for generations to come.
