The Islamic Republic's security forces have arrested another Kurdish man as they intensified a crackdown in Kurdish towns in the lead-up to the second anniversary of Mahsa Amini's death.
The latest arrest brings the total number of detainees to three in Piranshahr city alone.
Security forces arrested Ali Hosseinpour, a Kurdish man from the village of Chianeh in Piranshahr on the morning of Thursday, September 5.
Hengaw human rights organization reported that the arrest happened at 3 a.m. when security forces raided Hosseinpour's home without presenting a search warrant.
The arrest was reportedly carried out with violence and physical force. Following his arrest, Hosseinpour was taken to an undisclosed location.
Two other Kurdish men, identified as Suleiman Choupani and Saadoun Sharifi, were also reportedly arrested by security agencies in Piranshahr. Details about their arrests and current whereabouts remain unclear.
The arrests are part of a broader wave of suppression sweeping across West Azerbaijan province.
According to IranWire sources, at least eight civil activists, artists, and family members of those killed during the 2022 uprising have been detained in Kurdish towns in recent days.
Previously reported arrests include Siavash Soltani, son of victim Kobra Sheikheh, and 16-year-old Ramyar Abubakri, brother of another victim of the crackdown on 2022 protests, Zaniar Abubakri.
A source told IranWire that these arrests are part of a wider suppression campaign targeting dissidents, civil activists, and families seeking justice in West Azerbaijan province.
