The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Air Force Commander Amir Ali Hajizadeh has announced that Iran is developing a new ballistic missile defense system.
He said: “Regarding anti-ballistic systems, we suffered damage in this area during recent events, and this represents a deficiency in our country’s anti-ballistic defense.
“In every meeting that I, Commander Salami, and Commander Bagheri had with the Supreme Leader, his first follow-up question was, ‘What happened, and where has it progressed to?’
“Therefore, a project was started three years ago, and we hope that its first products will be ready next year, and we will equip Tehran and some major cities with an anti-ballistic defense system.”
Hajizadeh provided details about Iran’s recent missile strikes, which targeted locations in Israel.
He claimed that in the second strike in October, over 75 per cent of Iran’s missiles hit their intended targets, despite defensive efforts by multiple countries, including the United States, Britain, France, and Jordan.
He said: “The largest ballistic missile operation in the world was carried out by the Islamic Republic of Iran, and this demonstrates our power to defend our people and system.
“After this operation, the collapse of the Zionist regime began, and the Americans took over management of the scene.
“More than 75 per cent of our missiles hit their targets, and these launches were broadcast live for the world to see. A mass of missiles entered the occupied territories, demonstrating the Zionist regime’s major failure in defending itself.”
According to Hajizadeh, the strikes involved a sophisticated two-phase strategy: The first phase used drones and cruise missiles to “engage enemy air defenses,” while the second phase involved ballistic missiles.
He said that in the first strikes in April last year, Iran launched 150-160 drones, “forcing the opposing forces to keep 203 aircraft in the air for several hours.”
The commander also revealed that Iran maintains extensive underground missile facilities, saying, “If we were to unveil one underground missile city every week, it would take two years to show them all.”
Addressing Iran’s missile capabilities, Hajizadeh said the country can now produce missiles with ranges of up to 2,000 kilometers.
He said Iran continues to improve the precision of its older missile stockpile and claimed that the country’s production lines have never stopped despite international pressure.
Hajizadeh also announced that a “True Promise 3” strike against Israel would happen in the future, describing it as “a debt that we will not give up for free.”
