Residents of a village in western Iran blocked roads on Tuesday to protest water shortages and contamination.
Villagers from Zarangush in Ilam province’s Badreh district blocked roads connecting the cities of Badreh and Darreh Shahr.
Protesters gathered in large numbers, chanting slogans and demanding access to clean water.

According to residents, their drinking water has not only decreased in supply but has also become unsafe for consumption, posing serious health risks.
“We’ve been facing water shortage and contamination problems for years, but officials have taken no effective action,” one protester said. “If the situation continues like this, our health will be endangered.”
The demonstrators said they would continue their civil protests until they receive clear and practical responses from provincial and national authorities.
