At least seven prisoners were executed on Wednesday in prisons located in Isfahan, Karaj, and Birjand, bringing Iran’s total number of executions in 2025 to at least 434.
Jaber Shahkarmzehi, 38, from Khash, was executed at Dastgerd Prison in Isfahan, according to Baluch media reports.
He had been arrested in 2018 on drug-related charges and was sentenced to death by Isfahan’s Revolutionary Court.
His family had their final visit with him on Tuesday.
Alim Barahoei, 67, from Zahedan, was executed at Qezelhesar Prison in Karaj on similar charges.
He was arrested in 2019 and sentenced to death by Karaj’s Revolutionary Court. Barahoei was married with two children.
The Iran Human Rights Organization reported the execution of Maziar Karimi, 40, at Qezelhesar Prison in Karaj, also on drug-related charges.
The Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA) reported three executions at Birjand Prison: Naser Dehar, 40, Ghanbar Ghafari, and Nouroddin Mohammadzadeh, all from Miandoab.
The three men, arrested about two years ago, were sentenced to death in a joint case.
The judiciary-affiliated Mizan News Agency also reported the execution of a man convicted for his role in the armed attack on Azerbaijan’s embassy in Tehran.
The January 2023 attack killed one Azerbaijani citizen and wounded two others.
