Iranian Red Crescent: Death Toll Rises to 787

On Tuesday, March 3, the Iranian Red Crescent Society said that the death toll from the war involving the U.S. and Israel against Iran has climbed to 787. As in its earlier updates, the organization did not specify how many of those killed were civilians and how many were military personnel.

Previously, the Iranian Red Crescent had reported the death toll at 555. Now, by noon on the fourth day of the war, according to this announcement, the number of fatalities in Iran has risen to 787.

The Red Crescent also stated that 153 cities across Iran are now directly embroiled in the conflict.

In Iran, the Red Crescent is usually the first institution to handle disaster response and release casualty figures, as it is formally a humanitarian body. However, it functions under the oversight of the state. As a result, its figure of “787 deaths” may represent a cautious or limited count, particularly since the military - especially the IRGC - tends to withhold details about its own losses to preserve morale.
