Iran Orders Asset Seizure Of 13 More As Crackdown Widens

The Prosecutor of Hamadan has said that orders have been issued to identify and seize the assets of 13 individuals.

Among those named is Mehrdad Maher, a political activist. According to a report by the Hamadan Judiciary, 40 billion tomans of his assets and cash have already been confiscated. With these new additions, the total number of individuals targeted under such measures in the province has now reached 36.

Since the start of the conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran, the Iranian judiciary has intensified its crackdown on individuals it describes as “enemy collaborators.”

Referring to the law on “Escalation of Punishment for Espionage” introduced after the recent war, the Iranian judiciary has accused protesters and dissidents of “siding with the enemy.” It has also published several lists announcing the seizure of assets belonging to these individuals, covering a wide range of people from journalists to former actors and athletes.

Additionally, according to the Prosecutor General of Iran, the processing of powers of attorney for the transfer of property belonging to Iranians living abroad has been suspended “until further notice.”
