Ceasefire Nears End, Talks Between Iran and U.S. in Doubt

Axios reported on Monday, April 20, that the ceasefire between Iran and the United States is approaching its end, while the chances of restarting negotiations remain deeply uncertain.

According to the report, the ceasefire, which came after weeks of tension and conflict, has now reached a point where its future appears unclear because of the challenges and rising tensions surrounding the "Strait of Hormuz." Axios said that the approaching end of the ceasefire has increased fears of a renewed conflict, something that has already affected energy prices around the world.

This comes even though U.S. officials had announced on the evening of Sunday, April 19, that their representatives would travel to Islamabad for a second round of talks with officials from the Islamic Republic.

Axios added that despite heavy consultations by the Pakistani government and efforts to restart talks between Tehran and Washington, it is still not clear whether representatives of the Islamic Republic and the United States will actually sit down for negotiations.
