U.S. President Donald Trump announced in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, that due to internal divisions within the Iranian government and at the request of Pakistani officials, he has temporarily halted attacks on Iran and extended the ceasefire.
Trump wrote in the statement: “Given that the Iranian government is severely divided, which is not an unexpected issue, and at the request of Field Marshal Asim Munir and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, we are halting attacks on Iran until its leaders and representatives can present a unified proposal.” He added: “Therefore, I have ordered the military forces to continue the blockade and remain prepared and capable in all other respects.”
The U.S. President continued: “As a result, we will extend the ceasefire until their proposal is presented and negotiations reach a conclusion in some form.”
