A group of students at Sharif University of Technology issued a statement declaring that, in protest against the continued detention of their fellow student, Parnian Khodabakhshi, they will refuse to attend classes starting Saturday, April 25. Part of the statement reads: “Our fellow student, Parnian Khodabakhshi, has been in detention for 54 days, and the university has taken no effective action for her release.”
Parnian Khodabakhshi, a 2023 entrant in the Materials Engineering department at Sharif University, was arrested on February 27. According to reports, the student was detained on charges of raising a flag on the university campus and is currently being held in Qarchak Prison. Sharif University students announced their intention to boycott classes despite the fact that the university’s courses are currently being held virtually.
