The Ministry of Intelligence of the Islamic Republic said it has arrested four individuals in connection with what it described as the “shooting at government gatherings” in Azadi Square, Kerman. The incident, which took place on March 24, was initially reported by state media. According to security agencies, two men and a young girl were injured. At the time, Kerman police said they had launched “preliminary field investigations and the identification of the perpetrators.”
Authorities now claim the four individuals were identified through joint efforts by IRGC Intelligence and the Law Enforcement Command (FARAJA), with assistance from public reports. However, no details about the identities of those detained or any supporting evidence have been made public. The Ministry has alleged that the suspects were linked to “Monarchist” groups and the “Israeli intelligence service.”
Some reports also said that during the arrests, officials recovered “several firearms,” “hunting weapons,” “a significant amount of ammunition,” and “explosive devices.” The Islamic Republic has often faced criticism for not presenting independently verifiable evidence in security-related cases and for frequently accusing opponents of foreign links.
