Iranian authorities have executed a woman on drug-related charges in Qazvin prison, human rights sources reported on February 16.

The Norway-based Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO) group said that Hajar Atabaki, 41, was executed  "in silence" on January 20.

It quoted an informed source as saying that Atabaki was the mother of one child and had separated from her husband in 2018.

"She was arrested and sentenced to death about two and a half years ago," the source said.

According to IHRNGO, this is the second confirmed execution of a woman in Iran since the beginning of the year.

The organization said that 212 women have been executed across the country since 2010.
