Iranian rapper Amir Maghsoudloo, known as Tataloo, has been returned to prison after recovering from a suicide attempt and subsequent hospitalization, the judiciary-affiliated Mizan News Agency reported.
Tataloo was hospitalized at a medical center due to poisoning and was returned to prison after recovery and approval from his attending physician, according to the report.
Earlier reports, including from Etemad newspaper, said the imprisoned singer had requested meetings with a judiciary official and his new wife before the suicide attempt, but these requests went unanswered.
Official details about Tataloo’s psychological and legal condition have not been released.
Nasim Maghsoudloo, Tataloo’s sister, wrote on Instagram on Friday without detailed explanation, “Forgive us for not knowing how to handle Amir Tataloo. We haven’t had a 50-year-old artist like you for 50 years, and we don’t know how to understand him.”
Tataloo was arrested by Turkish police on December 4, 2023, and handed over to Iranian authorities through a land border crossing.
During his court defense, the singer said: “I definitely made mistakes, and many of my behaviors were wrong. I apologize for the mistakes I made.”
Tataloo is serving a 10-year prison sentence for “encouraging corruption.”
Additional charges include “propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic,” “operating a gambling website,” “publishing obscene content,” and “inciting immoral crimes.”
The Mizan News Agency previously reported receiving “several complaints” about Tataloo, including from teenagers and their families.
