NetBlocks, an independent organization that monitors internet connectivity, stated in its latest report on internet access in Iran: "While authorities are attempting to create tiered access for selected users and businesses, the human impact and economic damage of this act of digital censorship continue to mount."
The prolonged internet shutdown in Iran has had diverse economic repercussions, with one "free internet access activist" reporting the "layoff of 2,000 Digikala employees." While Digikala has not responded to this claim, other businesses have written about the impact of the internet outage over the past few days.
Simultaneously, reports are emerging regarding tiered internet access for different social groups. This mechanism, known as "Internet Pro," is being provided to groups such as members of the Chamber of Commerce, the Chamber of Cooperatives, the Computer Trade Union Organization (NSR), business license holders, physicians, and university professors.
