The current strain in Iran-Jordan relations stems from events earlier this year.
On April 13, Iran launched an attack on Israel in retaliation for an Israeli strike on the Iranian consulate in Syria.
Jordan's subsequent announcement that it would intercept Iranian drones in its airspace led to heightened tensions, with Iran warning of potential attacks if Jordan continued such cooperation against Iranian interests.
The diplomatic fallout resulted in Jordan summoning the Iranian ambassador, marking a low point in bilateral relations.
According to the Iranian news agency ISNA, the meeting between Safadi and Bagheri follows recent phone conversations between the two officials.
These talks reportedly covered regional developments and the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, though details of these discussions were not disclosed.
