Second Qatari Delegation in Tehran; Mediation Continues in Iran-U.S. Talks

Another Qatari delegation has arrived in Tehran, following up on last week’s round of negotiations, to continue consultations regarding a potential agreement between Iran and the United States.

The ISNA news agency reported that Qatar, alongside Pakistan, is playing a pivotal role in mediating between Tehran and Washington. The back-to-back visits by Qatari delegations are taking place within the framework of an “exchange of messages” between the two sides. This marks the second visit by a Qatari delegation to Tehran in recent days. News sources have reported that the delegation is headed by an advisor to the Qatari Foreign Minister.

While some foreign media outlets, and even the U.S. President, have indicated that the agreement could potentially be signed on Sunday, June 14, Iranian officials have so far not confirmed an exact date for its finalization.

Digital Signing Mechanism Under Review

Meanwhile, some reports, including one by Al Arabiya, claim that a digital signing mechanism for the agreement is currently under review. If finalized, the parties will initiate the implementation process in the presence of mediators. This process is reportedly expected to include the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to certain maritime restrictions.

However, due to denials of some of these speculations by Iranian officials, coupled with ongoing domestic opposition within Iran, a definitive timeline for the final signing of the agreement has yet to be announced.
