Tasnim News Agency, which is close to the Revolutionary Guards, reported hours after the Islamic Republic's missile and drone attacks on Israel that an "unknown drone" equipped with a jet engine was used in the operation.
In an analysis published by the media outlet, citing a military expert, it claimed that during the IRGC's attacks on Israel on Sunday night and Monday morning, the drone was deployed along with Khaibar Shekan missiles featuring "cluster warheads."
Cluster munitions have been banned by more than 120 countries worldwide because a single missile or bomb can disperse dozens or hundreds of smaller submunitions over a wide area, some of which may fail to explode, threatening civilian lives for years. Neither Iran nor Israel is a member of the Convention on Cluster Munitions.
