U.S. Launches New Attacks on Iranian Positions

The U.S. Central Command announced that, under orders from Donald Trump, it initiated new strikes against multiple targets in Iran starting at 5:15 PM Eastern Time. Simultaneously, Iranian media reported explosions in Hormozgan and the activation of air defense systems across several parts of the country.

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) declared that its forces began new strikes against several targets inside Iran at 5:15 PM Eastern Time, following directives from the U.S. President. In a statement, CENTCOM noted that the attacks were carried out in response to what it described as “unprovoked and ongoing Iranian aggression.”

At the same time on Tuesday evening, Iranian media reported the sounds of multiple explosions in various regions of the country. According to published reports, explosions were heard around Minab and Sirik in Hormozgan province. Tasnim News Agency, citing local sources, reported that at least four explosions had occurred in Sirik so far.

Reports also emerged regarding the activation of air defense systems in Asaluyeh, around the town of Mohr in Fars province, and in western Tehran. Official authorities have not yet provided explanations regarding the cause of the explosions, potential targets, or the extent of the damage.

Tasnim News Agency also refuted reports of explosions on the islands of Kish and Qeshm, writing that the sounds heard in those areas were related to ongoing engagements in the Persian Gulf. The outlet did not provide further details regarding the nature of these engagements.

Meanwhile, Tasnim quoted a military source as saying that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic are on full alert and will respond with “heavy responses” in the event of any “aggressive” action by the United States.

The military source claimed that the Islamic Republic had demonstrated to the U.S. during the previous night’s attacks that any “new adventure or foolishness” would be answered without delay, and that no aggression would go unanswered. He added that if the United States acts, new targets tied to American interests will be hit.

These remarks came hours after U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth told reporters that the strikes scheduled for tonight would be “strong and clear,” with U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) executing the operation.

Hegseth stated that the United States would bomb key facilities of the Islamic Republic, delivering a “hard blow.” He also claimed that the vast majority of the Islamic Republic’s missiles fail to hit their targets.
