Kurdish Activist's Uncle Detained in Northwest Iran

Iranian security forces have arrested Diako Khezri, 38, whose nephew was killed during the 2022 Woman, Life, Freedom protests.

Khezri was taken from his home in Shilanabad village near Mahabad on Wednesday by intelligence agents. His current location remains unknown.

Family members have been unable to obtain information about his status or whereabouts from security agencies.

Khezri is the uncle of Shaho Khezri, who was killed during protests in October 2022.

The reasons for Diako Khezri’s arrest and any potential charges have not been disclosed.
